Transmission issue on Camry 2023

My dad’s 23’ Camry has this issue with transmission, the car got jerky transmission and it’s been for a while. I helped him the other day and took the car to the dealer for a software update.
The funny thing is that they said that the software is already up to date and the VIN number isn’t on the defective list, so they can’t do anything about the jerky transmission issue.

My dad was quite upset when I told him this, and I don’t even know what to do now. Should I take the car to another dealer? All suggestions are welcome!

I'd say just keep driving it, probably it's just the car shifting gears you know that it can be jerky sometimes. Maybe a fluid change later if it is still bothering you. Good luck!

Yeah, there are situations when it may feel jerkey, but the 8 speed is generally smooth. Take it to another dealer and ask them to reset it. Not sure how they do it, but the car kinds learns the driver's habits and acts based on that. Drive it normally for a while and see if the shifting is better. I would mention the fluid, but it's a 23 model, so i doubt you have that many miles on it

i agree that it's smooth but if the movements are bothering you, yep just take it to the dealer

well you`ve taken the right first step by getting the software update already, but it's a shame they're not doing more about the jerky transmission. I'd say take it to another dealer could be worth a shot, cos different service departments might have a different take or even a better solution.

yep, I think you need a second opinion. I don't think jerky transmission is normal

That’d bug me too, especially on a 23. I’d definitely try another dealer and specifically ask about a transmission relearn or adaptation reset, some service writers won’t bring it up unless you push. Any idea how many miles are on it now @CoffeeAndTV?
