Is AWD worth It on the 2025 Camry?

I live in Texas but take occasional trips to Colorado, where the roads get twisty. The 2025 Camry's new AWD system is automatic, there is no button to press, and it works at any speed. It's about a $1,800 upgrade and since I'll spend most of my time in Texas, I'm torn. Is the extra traction and confidence in snow or mountain roads worth it, or should I stick with the standard FWD setup?

If you're heading to Colorado even a couple times a year, the AWD might just be worth the peace of mind. FWD handles Texas fine, but I'm not sure it can take mountain roads... I'd say go for it if the budget allows.

i think the FWD setup is good enough for 99% of your driving in Texas, so if i were you, i'd just save the money!! the AWD system in the new camry can be a great safety net, but it's an "on-demand" system, not full-time.. it kicks in when it detects slip. i think you might be spending a significant amount for a feature you'll only use on those occasional trips. a smarter move would be to put that money toward a dedicated set of winter tires for your trips to Colorado!! a good set of winter tires will give you far better grip and confidence on snowy and icy roads than all-season tires on an AWD car, and you'd save a lot, get better gas mileage and still have a safe and reliable car!!

Colorado means snow, and snow means you'll want AWD. Not just snow, even in wet conditions, these systems can do wonders, so I'd say go for it. Had a Legacy with awd before this and man oh man, does it make a difference. Now that I mentioned it, I'm a bit bummed I went with a fwd Camry
