carplay missing

my camry didn't come with the carplay feature with i found it to be nice to have so im looking for options. can i use the existing system and add the feature or will i need to go full aftermarket?

Depends on the year and trim of your camry. Some models can get a software update from Toyota to enable Carplay, so it's worth checking with a dealer first. If that's not an option, you might be able to swap in a newer factory head unit that supports Carplay. Otherwise, an aftermarket head unit is your best bet if you want more features and flexibility. also, what year is your Camry?

You might be able to add carplay with an interface module if your current system supports it. If not, you'll probably need an aftermarket head unit.

it honestly depends on you whether you trust an aftermarket or you prefer oem. i'm thinking you most likely got the new ones and it's gotta have a software update ready. but if you're not willing to go through all the trouble of possible errors after the update then just get an aftermarket.

i wouldn't go through all the trouble so i go for throwing in an aftermarket head unit. It's just the faster option, otherwise, dealership should have helped..

@laidbackdude1 I agree that it depends on which year of Camry you use. some of it doesn't support CarPlay. but if you want to add it, you can connect your iPhone using a USB cable, then follow the prompts on your phone and the car

thanks for the tips guys. My camry is 2018 model and I found a module from the fitting bay that they promise is a plug an play which I prefer as I like to keep things stock, so this is the best of both worlds

You can easily add CarPlay to your 2018 Camry with a simple plug-and-play module,so there's no need to install a whole aftermarket system. If the module you've come across is compatible,it'll work seamlessly with your current setup and maintain that factory look. Just make sure to check the reveiws and compatibiltiy first, but it seems like a great choice
